Delight Your Guests with a Little Love this Valentine’s

13 Feb 2024 - anon

The first of the new year’s holidays is upon us. And like most other holidays, it is easy to either get overwhelmed by your options or forget entirely and fall victim to the last minute rush. We take a look at some of the things you can do as a short term rental host to elevate your guests’ Valentine’s experience.

Mini Gift Bags

We all love receiving gifts and your guests are no exception. Gifts make us feel thought of and wanted. Take advantage of this by providing your guests Valentine’s themed mini gift hampers when they first arrive. These could contain items such as themed toiletries, chocolates, cookies, scented candles, playing cards, dice, and anything else that will enhance your guests’ experience. Follow this up with a welcome card to make it more personalized and heartfelt.

A little decor goes a long way

Put your guests in the right mood by utilizing decorations and artwork in the theme of love. A heart shaped wall hanging here, a mini sculpture there, some mood lighting; let your interior decor curate a romantic environment. Be careful not to overdo this though, as you do not want to overwhelm your guests and make them uncomfortable. Let subtlety be your guide.

Themed Products

Follow through with the Valentine’s motif by incorporating Valentine’s or love themed products for use by your guests. These could include: toiletries, towels, indoor slippers, pillows, pillowcases, and mugs. Lacking these does not take away from the experience but having them adds to it.

Lend a helping Hand

Push things along for your guests by providing them a guidebook highlighting activities in the local area. These could include restaurants, ie. date night spots, couple activities or classes, as well as any other items that could help your guests enjoy the holiday further. Furthermore, this offers you the opportunity to partner with local businesses and could thus prove an added source of income via referral bonuses.

Flowers for the Win

You can never go wrong with flowers. Make full use of this by adding flowers to your property’s interior decor. Red roses are usually popular during the valentine’s season; but are in no way the only game in town. Experiment with various other flowers such as peonies, red chrysanthemums, tulips, and any other flowers that are locally available to you. Flowers are one of those items that are mostly impossible to overdo. If you know your guests are a couple, you can even add rose petals to the bedroom for that extra touch.

As always, whatever steps you take this Valentine’s, it is vital that you work with your space and guests to avoid doing too much and negatively affecting their stays. Experiment and find what works.
